About Luis Roldan

Luis Roldan Telemundo is a businessman and highly experienced broadcast industry professional based out of Miami, Florida, and has worked as the president of Telemundo Orlando/WTMO-TV. 

Luis Roldan was born in Havana, Cuba but was raised in New York City, considering himself a New York native and being fluent in both English and Spanish. When Luis graduated from high school, he decided to attend Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business, located in the Bronx. He graduated in 1982 with a B.S. in Marketing and quickly picked up his first job at the Telemundo Network, an American Spanish-language television network. During his time there, Luis was an account executive and would sell network, spot, and local advertising time. Luis did this for 4 years until he took an account executive role at WNCBC-TV /New York, where he achieved 21 million dollars in billings and sold a platinum sponsorship of the Barcelona games.

That same year, Luis also received several roles at Telemundo New York/WNJU TV such as VP, Station Manager, GSM, and LSM. After a few years, Luis decided to leave WNBC-TV and put his focus on Telemundo New York. This allowed him to gain the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager in 1996. Luis served in these roles until 1998, and during his time he managed to negotiate historic deals with the Yankees, Mets, and Knicks for Spanish local broadcast, as well as successfully launching the 11 pm news, leaving his mark in the company. The station was also nominated for an Emmy in Outstanding Single Newscast twice while he served in this role. 

In 1998, Luis Roldan took a role as the President and General Manager of Telemundo PR / WKAQ-TV, an NBC owned & operated station. While here, he directed flagship operations of $95 million in revenues with 275 technical, administrative, and sales personnel, as well as an additional 100 freelancers. His time here allowed Luis to oversee 16 weekly local productions that included news, variety talk shows, and sitcoms while executing 48 hours of local production every week. Luis also attended the GE Crotonville/ Six Sigma management training program and created and launched Superstation in the US which obtained 2 million dollars in subscription fees amongst other achievements.

After leaving his president position at Telemundo PR in 2006, Luis Roldan had several other jobs in the broadcasting industry. These included senior vice president of Spanish Broadcasting System & MEGA TV Puerto Rico, being a consultant for GF Group/TVC Broadcasting,  and EVP/Chief Operating Officer/Board Member of America TeVe/MundoFox. Finally, in 2018 Luis earned his position as the President and General Manager of Telemundo Orlando/WTMO-TV, where’s he had managed to exceed OCF & revenue targets, achieved #2 market position in late-night news, launched both midday and weekend news, and so much more. 

Outside of work, Luis Roldan is a family man, having 2 young boys. Luis is very active in his children’s school activities, particularly in sports. Luis is also a former Trustee of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
